Most of
us have privileged lives, born in well to do families, our requirements
are met before we voice them. No doubt our futures will be bright, after
all we have ample opportunities. McDonald and pizzas, cellphones and iPods, parties and picnics ……, you name it……we have them all.
But there are less fortunate ones, people we don’t see, our gaze penetrating through them, whom we hear but don’t listen to.We are so “busy” that we just can’t be bothered by them. I am talking about the street people, the homeless ones, the children looking for food in our litters, the grown-ups trying to sell us little oddities, the young ones who are born malnourished.
We are cynical of their problems. We preach our friends that giving them money will encourage begging. We think they should be given jobs instead…yet we don’t want to employ them. We hold them responsible for besmirching India’s image of a shining developing country. We blame the system for not providing them shelter homes and free healthcare ,….. but we complain if the government increase taxes for funds….
It’s a tragedy indeed that inspite of having so much, we keep wanting more …whereas they can be satisfied in so less.
Let’s
drop our pretentious attitude, shed a little change from our pockets,
and help them without showing pity……Their answering smiles will make our
day…!!!
